Sarett Field Trip- Thursday, October 30
We will be heading to Sarett Nature Center on Thursday, October 30th. We will leave Lincoln
at 9:00 and arrive around 9:30am. Parents are welcome to join us at Sarett, unfortunately, we have
no room on our buses for any additional adults. If you would like to join us, you will need to pay admission, when you arrive. Admission
is $3 a person. We plan to head back to Lincoln at 11:30am. When we arrive at Sarett, we will be put into
small groups. Parents can join the groups with the Nature Leaders and walk with your child. Please let your
classroom teacher know if you have any questions.
Halloween Party
Mrs. Ettinger and Mrs. Peek have sent emails out with information to parents who signed up to help
with parties. Our classroom party time will be Friday, Oct. 31st at 2:00pm. We will have our PM recess at 2:45, then end the day with the annual costume walk around
Lincoln, after the party. As you begin planning your child's costume, keep in mind a few things:

Math- Multiplication Facts
In math, we have spent much time learning about multiplication through equal grouping, and are now looking at arrays and area. Multiplication fact fluency is a large part of learning in third grade. This trimester, our focus is on the 2, 5, and 10 facts. We are noticing that our students are finding the 10's fairly simple, but are struggling a bit with putting the 2's and 5's to memory. Please continue working with your child on putting these facts to memory during the next few weeks. The year end goal for third grade is to know all multiplication facts 0-10 from memory.
We are fortunate to have our SJPS Foundation, who purchased class sets of flashcards for all 3rd grade classes in SJ. I always like to put the link on here for families in case you would like to purchase a set for at home.
